Police searching for a missing 60-year-old man from Norfolk have found a body in the River Waveney.

60-year-old James Perkins' car was discovered off the B1062 near Mendham Marshes on 22 November, prompting the search.

Police, HM Coastguard and Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service conducted searches along the river at Homersfield yesterday afternoon, when they discovered the body.

A formal identification is yet to take place, but police believe it to be Mr Perkins.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A 60-year-old man has gone missing after police believe he went open water swimming in the River Waveney in Suffolk.

James Perkins from Cratfield was reported missing to police at 10.30pm yesterday (22 November), after his car was discovered off the B1062 close to the river in Homersfield, near to Mendham Marshes.

HM Coastguard and the National Police Air Service helicopter have been searching the area along the river.

Anyone who believes they may have seen a man swimming in the River Waveney yesterday, or may have seen Mr Perkins elsewhere, is asked to contact Suffolk Police.
