MK Dons make contact with Gerrard over manager role

It is understood that former Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard has turned down the chance to become the MK Dons manager.

Gerrard's playing contract with LA Galaxy has expired but its been reported he has yet to make a decision on whether he wants to extend his playing career for a while longer or take up coaching full-time.

MK Dons fans have been giving their reaction to speculation linking former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard with the vacant manager's job.

It's believed preliminary talks have taken place between the 36-year-old and the Dons, although other candidates are also thought to be under consideration.

MK Dons' bid to appoint Steven Gerrard as their new manager may have hit a potential stumbling block, after reports emerged that Italian giants Inter Milan have also made contact with the 36-year-old.

Early talks are understood to have taken place between the former Liverpool midfielder and the Dons who are on the lookout for a new boss after parting company with Karl Robinson last month.

However, according to The Independent, Inter are keen to sign him on a six-month contract - leaving Gerrard with a decision to make on whether he wants to continue his playing career.

Inter are currently mid-table in Serie A after a disappointing start to the season and recently sacked their manager Frank De Boer.

MK Dons have reportedly approached former Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard about the possibility of becoming their manager.

The 36-year-old only announced he was leaving American side LA Galaxy this week and it's not clear yet whether he still plans to continue his playing career.

Gerrard has since emerged as the heavy favourite to take over from Karl Robinson at stadium:mk with some reports going as far to say that contact has been made.

Gerrard is currently in the process of gaining his Uefa A coaching licence.
