The Prime Minister's announcement of a third river crossing for Lowestoft has been welcomed as one of the most important developments in the history of the town.
In a visit to Felixstowe this morning, the Prime Minister announced that the Government will provide £70 million to fund the new bridge. This will be formally announced as part of the Budget tomorrow.

The town has been fighting to get a third crossing over Lake Lothing for more than 70 years.

The Prime Minister has announced that more than £70 million will be invested by the government to ensure a third water crossing in Lowestoft goes ahead.
David Cameron revealed the news during a visit to the Port of Felixstowe today where he has been trying to convince workers that it's best to stay in the EU.
The PM stopped short of announcing investment for a similar crossing at the waterfront in Ipswich though, saying that the government are "still looking into it."
