Detectives have been given more time to question a teenager arrested over the murder of a father-of-two from Harlow.

Hassan Abdi Mohamed was stabbed in broad daylight and found collapsed close to Holly Field on Saturday March 5. He later died.

An 18-year-old man from North London has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Magistrates today gave Essex Police a further 36 hours before they have to release him.

Partner pays tribute to Essex stab victim

Hassan Mohamed was killed on a path between Southern Way and Pyenest Road.

The partner of a man who died from a single stab wound to the chest has paid tribute to him.

Hassan Abdi Mohamed, 48, from Harlow, was found collapsed close to Holly Field in the town on Saturday morning (March 5).

Mr Mohamed was found injured on a path that leads from Southern Way to Pyenest Road.

Police are continuing to appeal for information.

"What happened to our beloved Hassan has come as a complete shock to us.

"He was a loving father to our two gorgeous children, who adored him.

"If there is anyone with any information that can help, however small it may be, please contact the police.

"We need to know why this happened.”

People are being urged to check their bins, sheds and gardens for a knife used to kill a man in Harlow on Saturday.

The 48 year old man was found collapsed on a path near Pyenest Road - he died later in hospital from a single stab wound from a "large knife".

"It is quite possible this has been discarded nearby and I would ask people to check their bins, gardens, outbuildings for any knives that have been left and I would also ask members of the public out and about in Harlow to report any such finds to us.

"I am also very keen to get hold of any CCTV from either businesses or private premises which overlook Pyenest Road, Holly Field, Abercrombie Way and Southern Way from yesterday morning which may have captured either our victim or the person or persons responsible for this awful crime."

Police search for large knife as it's revealed murder victim was stabbed in chest

Police say a post mortem investigation has revealed a man who died in Harlow yesterday was killed by a single stab wound to the chest.

The victim, believed to be a 48-year-old man from the town, was attacked close to Holly Field on a pathway that leads from Southern Way to Pyenest Road.

"The cause of death has been established but we are still searching for the murder weapon which is thought to be a large knife. It is quite possible this has been discarded nearby and I would ask people to check their bins, gardens, outbuildings for any knives that have been left and I would also ask members of the public out and about in Harlow to report any such finds to us."

Police also want to get hold of CCTV from any buildings overlooking Pyenest Road, Holly Field, Abercrombie Way and Southern Way.

The cordon at the murder scene remains in place and specialist search teams are carrying out a finger-tip examination along the pathway and surrounding area including the nearby playing fields.

Officers will stay at the scene for some time, to reassure people in the area.

Anyone with information should ring Harlow Major Incident Team on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. It offers rewards of up to £1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of offenders.

The attack happened near Pyenest Road

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found stabbed in Harlow today.

The 48-year-old was found collapsed on a path just after 10.45am near St Lukes Catholic School, Pyenest Road, and died a short time later in hospital.

Essex Police are appealing for information. Call 101.
