Motorist killed in M11 car fire named by police
A man who died in a car fire which closed the southbound carriageway of the M11 near Cambridge for most of Wednesday (January 13) has been named by police.
He was 43 year-old Foyzul Islam from Rothwell in Northamptonshire. His car caught fire just after 8am.
Police say there was no sign his car had collided with any other vehicle.
Investigations continue into the cause.
M11 near Cambridge remains closed nine hours after car fire
The southbound M11 near Cambridge is to stay closed this evening following a car fire in which a man died.
The vehicle caught fire on the carriageway at around 8:30am, causing a full closure of the southbound M11 and lane 2 of the northbound M11 between junction 12, for Barton, and junction 11, for Trumpington and the A10.
The southbound entry slip road at junction 12 has been re-opened and traffic is now being diverted up and over the junction.
Highways England say the southbound carriageway will remain closed into the evening while recovery and resurfacing continues at junction 12. The northbound carriageway is expected be fully open by 6.30pm.

The M11 southbound near Cambridge is set to be closed for most of Wednesday after a fatal car fire.
There's severe congestion on surrounding roads including the A14.
A car caught fire on the carriageway at around 8:30am causing a full closure of the southbound M11 and lane 2 of the northbound M11 between junction 12 for Barton and junction 11 for Trumpington and the A10.
Police say there is no indication of a collision taking place or any other vehicles being involved. One person, a man, is believed to have been in the vehicle.
Highways England is advising drivers to consider alternative routes or to delay their journey if possible. The road is likely to remain closed for most of today, possibly into the evening peak, while the vehicle is recovered and the road is repaired.
M11 closed southbound after fatal car fire
A man has been killed in a car fire on the M11 in Cambridgeshire.
The motorway is closed southbound at Junction 13. Police and other emergency services are currently at the scene.
Reports came in of a car on fire on the southbound carriageway of the road near junction 12, just after Barton, at about 8.10am.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
There is no indication at this time of a collision taking place or any other vehicles being involved. One person, a man, is believed to have been in the vehicle.
