Man remanded into custody after torso murder court appearance
A man has been remanded into custody after appearing before magistrates in Huntingdon, charged with the murder of a woman whose torso was found in a suitcase at a house in Peterborough.
57-year-old Vytautas Jokubauskas is charged with the murder of 42-year old Ramute Butkiene of Mayor's Walk in the city.
The Lithuanian national was told the charge of murder is too serious to be dealt with by magistrates and his case was sent up to crown court.
Unshaven and wearing a grey tracksuit Jokubauskas spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
He is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on June 18.
Chair magistrate William Symons told Jokubauskas he had no power to grant bail and remanded him in custody.

Police have charged a man in connection with the murder of a woman in Peterborough.
Vytautas Jokubauskas, 57, of Mayor’s Walk in the city, has been charged with murdering Ramute Butkiene who was 42
Ramute’s torso was discovered at a property in Mayor’s Walk on Friday afternoon.
Some body parts have been discovered in Peterborough but searches are continuing.
Mr Jokubauskas remains in police custody and is due to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.
Police name torso murder victim
Police have named a woman whose torso was discovered at a property in Peterborough on Friday.
The body, which was missing its head, arms and legs, was that of Ramute Butkiene, 42, of Mayor's Walk, Peterborough.
Ramute was a mother-of-one and was involved in various agency work in the Peterborough area.
Family members in Peterborough and Lithuania have been informed and are being kept up to date by detectives on the investigation. A 57-year-old man from Peterborough who has been arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

Peterborough: Police search for man after woman's dismembered body found in suitcase
Police have released a picture of a man they want to trace in connection with a murder inquiry in Peterborough.
Officers want to find Lithuanian national Vitautas Jokubauskas, 57, who had been letting the property in Mayor’s Walk where the body of a woman was found yesterday.
Detectives have now confirmed the body had no arms, legs or head and was found in a suitcase.
The last reported sighting of Mr Jokubauskas was on May 30 when he was taken to work in Huntingdon by a friend.
The body has not been identified, however, police are keen to trace a woman, believed to be Mr Jokubauskas’ partner, who is only described as being about 40, slim, with black hair and also Lithuanian.
No further details on her are known at this time.
A cordon has been put up at the property in Mayor’s Walk and police, including scenes of crime officers, remain at the premises.
Police say they're very concerned for the welfare of Mr Jokubauskas' partner.
