Police in Suffolk will be working in pubs and clubs this weekend in a bid to stop more people becoming victims of a dangerous ecstasy tablet which has been linked to at least two deaths in the county.

Two men died in Ipswich on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve after they are suspected of having taken one of the tablets, which are pink and triangular with a "Superman" logo on them.

Officers are also investigating the death of a third man in Rendlesham, Suffolk.

Earlier this week, police seized more than 400 pills which were found in a public place near Norwich Road in Ipswich.

Adrian Lubecki, 19, of St Matthews Street in Ipswich, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

"Our number one priority is to prevent other people suffering the tragic consequences of this dangerous drug. Over the weekend we will be talking to people who are in the bars and clubs in Ipswich to advise them of the danger. We'll also be out and about in the local communities, handing out leaflets and making sure that as many people as possible know not to take these pills."

Norwich death 'not linked to Superman ecstasy pills'

Officers say they do not believe the death of a man in Norwich is linked to a so-called "Superman" ecstasy pill.

Police were called to a property in Norfolk Street twice yesterday morning after two men became ill.

One of the men later died while the second remains in a critical condition in Hospital.

Three men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences. The woman was later taken to hospital as a precaution after she also became unwell. She is in a stable condition.

"We are in the early stages of our investigation however initial enquiries suggest this incident could be linked to the use of illegal substances.

"While we're not in a position to comment on the type of drugs involved, there is no evidence at this stage to suggest the case is linked to recent deaths in Suffolk involving the 'Superman' ecstasy pills."

– Det Ch Insp Andy Ninham, Norfolk Police.

Officers are linking the deaths of two men in Ipswich on Christmas Eve and New Year's Day to the tablets.

Now it's emerged that a fourth death in Telford may well be linked.

"We are eager to hear from anyone who has been offered drugs in the Telford area recently. Alert police so that we can remove these dangerous drugs off the streets."

– Det Chief Insp Sean Paley, West Mercia Police

"I can fully understand people's reluctance in this situation, but we are not looking to arrest or prosecute people - they are really dangerous and we are talking about saving lives."
