First big autumn storm sweeps in

The situation is set to improve along the region's coastlines and flood warnings will be withdrawn as we go through the day, The Environment Agency have warned.

The Agency said that some salt water will remain trapped in the Broads, potentially causing problems for wildlife.

Passengers on Greater Anglia trains face disruption this morning in the aftermath of former Hurricane Gonzalo.

The storm has left rail lines in poor conditions with flooding on the route between Lowestoft and Norwich.

Those services have been suspended.

Trains between Norwich and London Liverpool Street are also delayed by up to 15 minutes.

A fourth Flood Warning is in place on the east coast, as the aftermath of Hurricane Gonzalo sweeps through the region.

The warning's been issued for the Lake Lothing area of Lowestoft in Suffolk, for Wednesday morning's high tide, which is due at 8.30am

Other warnings are in place between Keswick and Walcott in Norfolk, and Southwold and Felixstowe in Suffolk.

Wind gusts peaked at more 50 mph over much of the Anglia region during daylight hours on Tuesday 21 October as the storm containing the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo swept through.

Tree surgeons spent the morning trying to free a lorry which had been hit by a tree at Wilburton near Ely. The driver wasn't injured.

There are delays on Abellio Greater Anglia services between Ipswich and Norwich due to fallen tree on the line between Stowmarket and Diss.

The tree has damaged the overhead lines, which is causing delays and cancellations.

The tree has now been removed and services are beginning to resume as normal but delays of up to 50 minutes could be expected.

A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency for Felixstowe Ferry and Bawdsey Quay.

The forecast high water is due at Harwich at 11.30pm on 21 October 2014.

The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in force for strong winds in the aftermath of ex-Hurricane Gonzalo. They are expected to peak in the Anglia region during Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Power lines could be affected if they are damaged by falling debris in extreme weather, UK Power Networks have warned.

The region is so far facing no widespread power interruptions, but UK Power Networks are monitoring the weather and are in regular contact with the Met Office.
