First big autumn storm sweeps in

The remnants of a former hurricane have added strength to the first major storm of autumn to hit the Anglia region with gales and heavy rain forecast.

New Flood Warning for Suffolk coast

Four Flood Warnings are in place around the region's coast Credit: Environment Agency

A fourth Flood Warning is in place on the east coast, as the aftermath of Hurricane Gonzalo sweeps through the region.

The warning's been issued for the Lake Lothing area of Lowestoft in Suffolk, for Wednesday morning's high tide, which is due at 8.30am

Other warnings are in place between Keswick and Walcott in Norfolk, and Southwold and Felixstowe in Suffolk.

Wind gusts peaked at more 50 mph over much of the Anglia region during daylight hours on Tuesday 21 October as the storm containing the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo swept through.

Flood warning issued for Felixstowe in Suffolk

A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency for Felixstowe Ferry and Bawdsey Quay.

"Properties are expected to flood at Bawdsey Quay and in front of the flood defences at Felixstowe Ferry. We are expecting high tide levels due to a combination of a tidal surge and high winds. This warning is in force until 1:30am on the 22 October 2014. We will continue to monitor levels closely."

The forecast high water is due at Harwich at 11.30pm on 21 October 2014.

By 1pm, the Environment Agency had issued two Flood Warnings and seven of the lower level Flood Alert

The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in force for strong winds in the aftermath of ex-Hurricane Gonzalo. They are expected to peak in the Anglia region during Tuesday afternoon and evening.

UK Power Networks braced for extreme weather

Power lines could be affected if they are damaged by falling debris in extreme weather, UK Power Networks have warned.

The region is so far facing no widespread power interruptions, but UK Power Networks are monitoring the weather and are in regular contact with the Met Office.

Customers who need to report power cuts or damaged power lines are urged to call the UK Power Networks free helpline on 0800 783 8838.
