The family of a man who was found dead in a street just a week before Christmas have paid tribute to him, calling him a "charismatic person".

Darren Moss, 59, was found behind The Rows in Harlow, Essex, shortly before 9.15pm on 18 December.

Emergency services were called to reports that a man was injured but he was pronounced dead on their arrival.

Mr Moss's family said: “There are no words that can convey the immense loss we all feel at Darren’s unexpected and sudden passing."

Three men, aged 43, 44, and 61 were arrested on suspicion of murder but later released on bail until 10 March.

Police said they believed Mr Moss' death was suspicious and they were continuing to investigate and establish the circumstances around his death.

Det Insp Stewart Eastbrook said: “Our thoughts remain with Darren’s family at this challenging time for all involved.

“Specialist officers continue to explore a number of inquiries to build a picture of what led up to Darren’s death, and we would ask for patience and discourage people from speculating while this work goes on.

“I would also like to repeat our appeal for anyone in the area at the time of the incident, or anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage, to contact us.”

Mr Moss's family said they would remember him for the joy he brought to their lives, adding: “Although it is difficult today to see beyond the grief we all feel, we will take comfort in the smiles and giggles he gave to us.

“Rest in peace, dearest Darren. We all love you.”
