Fatal Boxing Day fire in Norwich was 'not suspicious', police say

A house fire which claimed the life of a woman in her 70s is not being treated as suspicious, said police.

Officers were called out to help fire crews after the blaze broke out at Caterford Drive in Norwich in the early hours of Boxing Day.

The body of the woman was discovered in the house.

Norfolk Police said formal identification had yet to take place but her next of kin had been informed.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place in due course.

A cordon which sealed off the building while investigations were carried out has now been lifted.

A spokesperson for Norfolk Police said: "Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the cause of the blaze was undetermined but not suspicious and investigations have concluded."
