Two pedestrians aged in their 80s killed in crash as Mini driver arrested

Two pedestrians in their 80s died when they were hit by a white Mini One in High Kelling in north Norfolk.

The Bishop of Norwich has offered his condolences to the families of two pedestrians who died after being hit by a car after a church service.

The man and woman died at the scene in High Kelling, Norfolk, after the crash with the white Mini One at about 4.20pm on Sunday.

A man in his 50s, who was driving the Mini, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and taken to Wymondham police investigation centre for questioning.

The Rt Rev Graham Usher, Bishop of Norwich, posted on social media: "Deeply saddened about the deaths of this couple who were a key part of their local church and had spent the day serving others.

"Prayers for all involved, and for the family in grief, that the light of Christ’s coming will illuminate their darkest hour."

The crash happened on the A148 at the junction with Avenue Road.

The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene and reopened just after 1am on Monday.
