'Unspeakable' driver filmed and posted dad-of-three's fatal crash on social media
A driver who filmed the aftermath of a collision which claimed the life of a dad-of-three and put it on social media has been condemned for his "unspeakable" actions.
Arturas Motuzis recorded the scene of the crash that killed motorcyclist Kevin Doherty, 44, on the A14 at Sproughton near Ipswich on 4 June.
Mr Doherty's family said the keen Ipswich Town fan from Somersham was a hugely-missed husband, dad, son and grandson.
Footage of the incident, which also involved a van and a car, was shared on social media by Motuzis.
Police said they received multiple complaints from the public as the footage showed Mr Doherty following the crash.
Motuzis of Belstead Avenue, Ipswich, admitted two charges - one of sending an offensive message by public communication network and one of using a mobile phone while driving.
He must pay £1,345 in fines, costs and victim surcharges. His driving licence was endorsed with six points.
PC Thomas Ives said: “We understand the disruption a collision or serious incident on the road can have on other motorists.
“It is unspeakable, however, to film the scene of a fatal collision and even more so to then share it on social media.
"Not only is using a mobile phone while driving an offence, but it is also utterly disrespectful to anyone involved in the sensitive and traumatic incident."
Mr Doherty's family described him as a man who "took joy in the simple things; a family walk taking photos of the local scenery, trips to the beach to hunt for sharks’ teeth with the children or for chips and an ice cream."
They said his death had left "a void in our family and our hearts that can never be filled".
