CCTV captures gold thief stuffing jewellery under T-shirt in brazen shop theft

A husband and wife who worked together to steal jewellery from across the UK were caught on CCTV as he brazenly shoved thousands of pounds of gold chains up his top.
Vadar-Ghimes Agafitei, and Zinca Agafitei, both aged 46, were spotted stealing £15,000 worth of gold chains from a shop in Thetford in July.
CCTV showed that as Zinca spoke to a member of staff, her husband reached over and stole a number of gold chains from the window display before hiding the rack under his t-shirt.
When Norfolk Police started investigating they found the pair from London had carried out a string of thefts valued at £48,000 from various shops across Norfolk, Suffolk, Warwickshire, Sussex and Wiltshire between May and July.
They eventually tracked the pair to Cheshire where they were stopped on the M6 and arrested.
Each was sentenced to two years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of theft and two counts of burglary.
Vadar-Ghimes Agafitei also pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation.
Sgt Gary Morris from Norfolk Police said: “This was a complex case where the offenders travelled far and wide, often changing vehicles and locations to try and avoid detection.
"As a result of their efforts, the pair have been caught and will now serve custodial sentences.
"I am hopeful this case demonstrates that Norfolk is not an easy target, and anyone travelling to this county to commit crime will be dealt with robustly.”
