Man and woman charged over death of baby girl in head-on crash in Milton Keynes two years ago
A man and a woman have been charged in connection with the death of a seven-month-old baby who was killed in a car crash two years ago.
Emanuela Sakyi died from injuries sustained during the collision in 2022.
A grey Peugeot 508 and a Fiat 500 crashed head-on while driving through Milton Keynes towards Fenny Lock around 9.50pm on 4 December.
The baby was taken to hospital where she died of her injuries. A 30-year-old woman, who was travelling with the girl in the Peugeot, suffered minor injuries while the driver of the Fiat was left with a broken leg.
Emmanuel Sakyi, 29, of Garraways, Milton Keynes, was first charged in June 2023 with one count of driving while over the alcohol limit and one count of failing to stop after a collision.
Thames Valley Police confirmed he had now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol.
Ruth Oppong, aged 32, of Warwick Road, Coventry, was charged with one count of aiding and abetting causing death by dangerous driving and one count of neglecting/causing unnecessary suffering/injury of a child/young person.
Both were charged via a postal requisition and were due to appear before Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
