Tributes paid to 'amazing' man Kristers Bednarskis who died at Bawsey Country Park

A fundraising page has been set up to cover the funeral costs of an 'amazing' man who drowned at Bawsey Country Park near Kings Lynn, just two days after his 22nd birthday.

Kristers Bednarskis, who was from Peterborough, died on Saturday after getting into difficulty in the water.

Kristers has been described as an "amazing friend, brother and son."

"Kristers was an amazing friend to everyone, everyone that knows him will know he was the hardest working, kindest and nicest guy", GoFundMe organiser and friend, Ilja Jevtusenko said.

"He was an amazing friend , brother and son. Had big things going for him. He was there for everyone that needed help now it's time to help him and his family."

Many others left tributes on the page, including Christine Townsend who posted: "You were the kindest and most gentle young man I've ever had the privilege to teach xx."

So far, more than £5,000 has been raised so far to help pay for Kristers' funeral.

Police in Norfolk are urging people to take 'the utmost care' around water.

Swimming is banned at the pits and warning signs can be seen around the beauty spot.

Kristers Bednarskis was one of three people to die with incidents in the water in the past week as temperatures soared in the heatwave.
