£1.3 million pounds is being spent on 100 new number plate recognition cameras in Northamptonshire.
Police say the technology is a major investment in the county and will help officers detect criminals operating in the area, as well as deterring those thinking of committing a crime.
The force plans to roll out the cameras across the county.
ITV News Anglia spoke to Chief Superintendent Mick Stamper from Northamptonshire Police, who said the 100 cameras will be "a hundred extra sets of eyes on the road looking out for vehicles known to the police for crime".
