Pledge to get ultrafast broadband to more towns and villages in the Anglia region
Seven more communities in the Anglia region have been added to the list of places due to get ultrafast internet connections in the next three years.
Openreach is committing to build its new ultrafast broadband network for 3.2 million homes and businesses in some of the UK's hardest-to-serve communities.
The company said it was part of a £12 billion investment programme aimed at delivering full fibre broadband to 20 million premises throughout the UK by the mid-to-late 2020s.
Openreach published a list of 251 locations where it will build the new full fibre network over the next three years. In the Anglia region, they include:
Caister-on-Sea, Norfolk
Daventry, Northamptonshire
King's Lynn, Norfolk
Haverhill, Suffolk
Hunstanton, Norfolk
Stamford, Lincolnshire
Towcester, Northamptonshire
Clive Selley, chief executive of Openreach, said: "This year we've all seen the importance of having a decent broadband connection, and at Openreach we're convinced that full fibre technology can underpin the UK's economic recovery."
Work is expected to get underway in many of the announced locations within the next 12-18 months although some places will see work continue into 2024.
The new East Anglia locations build on January’s announcement of 22 locations across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
