Family stage their own virtual Olympics to ease life in lockdown

We may all be missing out on the Olympics Games this year but one family from Norfolk has been staging their own.

The Lees have roped in relatives from Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Essex to hold an online competition they've dubbed the 'Dorian Olympics'.

They are named after 53-year-old Dorian Lee. Dorian has learning disabilities and had to spend lockdown in his care home in north Norfolk - away from his beloved sport and his family.

His father Ron said: "We couldn't go and visit him. We could do it on the iPad on Skype but that was the only contact we could have."

When lockdown was taking its toll, Dorian's sister Jacqui had an idea.

She decided to get all their relatives from across the country to stage the 'Dorian Olympics' online, complete with an opening ceremony and a host of filmed events.

The competition raged in Cambridge, there was a swimming medley in Milton Keynes and boxing in Basildon.

Of course, Dorian can now see his family again but the challenges keep on coming.

And a quick look at the medal table for the 'Dorian Olympics' will tell you there was only ever likely to be one winner.
