Paralympic gold medallist Ellie Robinson says she's relieved to be back training after going eighteen weeks without access to a pool.

Northampton Swimming Club resumed sessions at Moulton College at the weekend, letting Ellie get back to what she does best.

The swimming club has lost almost £90,000 in revenue since lockdown began, so reopening is also a big relief for them.

Jacquie Marshall, Northampton Swimming Club said: "In the pool at the moment we've got Paralympians - possible Olympic hopefuls, who have been out of the water for eighteen weeks. They're all doing really well and everything we've put in place so far has really worked."

But there are concerns about public pools and it's estimated a third in England remain closed.

In Ipswich some are expected to open mid-August or early September, which has come as a blow for Sam Perkins.

The 17-year-old competes at national level - he hopes to be an Olympic star, but has no-where to train.

Even for pools that have reopened - financial worries remain.

Today at Parkside leisure Centre in Cambridge a visit from the mayor, but significantly less swimmers than normal:

Steven Rayment, centre manager said: "Without the people coming in and jumping back into the pool - it's really unknown for us we're just hoping the income comes back in the till."
