CCTV footage shows HGV crashing through level crossing barriers in Essex
CCTV footage shows the moment a lorry ripped through a barrier at an Essex level crossing on Friday.
The incident caused delays on both the train line and the roads after the HGV tore the barrier from its hinges at Manningtree station.
Greater Anglia services running through the station were delayed and the A137 had to close for three hours while engineers worked to repair the damage.
The incident happened at around 3pm and the repair work was completed by around 6.45pm.Network Rail released the footage, along with the reminder that drivers must stop when they see lights flashing at a crossing.
British Transport Police confirmed that the driver, a 47-year-old man, has been reported for consideration of prosecution. ITV Anglia have approached Mammoet haulage company for comment.
