Indoor gyms, leisure centres and pools in the Anglia region reopen
Gyms and leisure centres are now allowed to reopen in the Anglia region but at least a third across the country are expected to remain shut due to financial difficulties caused by the lockdown.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden announced in July that gyms and leisure centres will be able to reopen with strict hygiene and social-distancing measures.
But Community Leisure UK - the member's association that represents charitable leisure and culture trusts - says at least 35% may not be able to reopen due to increased operating costs and warn that jobs could be at risk.
As well as gyms indoor pools can reopen. In Cambridge the Lido on Jesus Green also reopened today with people having to book their sessions in advance.
Puregym has 26 locations across the East of England. Each gym has undergone a redesign with equipment placed more than two metres apart and new cleaning stations all within easy reach . Clubs are also limiting capacity, and while changing rooms are open, members are encouraged to avoid them and to arrive and leave in their kit.

The District Councils' Network (DCN) warned of the "uncertain future" faced by gyms and leisure sector with an estimated loss for the sector at £305 million.
The DCN, which represents 187 district councils in England, called on the Treasury to provide a rescue package to save leisure centres from collapse.
