Norwich City swoop for Polish winger Przemysław Płacheta
Norwich City have signed Polish winger Przemysław Płacheta on a four-year deal.
The Canaries have paid an undisclosed fee for the 22-year-old who joins from Ekstraklasa side Śląsk Wrocław.
Płacheta scored eight goals in 35 appearances in the Polish top-flight last season, and had also reportedly attarcted the interest of Greek giants Olympiakos and La Liga club Valladolid.
He becomes Norwich's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Danish midfielder Jacob 'Lungi' Sørensen earlier this week.
Płacheta previously had a spell in RB Leipzig's academy before moving back to his homeland.
He has been capped by Poland's under 21s and becomes Norwich's first-ever Polish player.
“I spoke with the sporting director [Stuart Webber] and he told me all the things about this club. For sure, I was certain that I would make the move to Norwich City," Płacheta said.
“I saw that this is a team of young players, which is nice because we can be hungry for every game. We will try to do our best. I’m looking forward to playing in the Championship. I will do my best in training to fight for the team.”
Head coach Daniel Farke added: "Przemysław is an unbelievably interesting player. He has seen a lot in his young years and has spent some time in Germany.
“Of course, he will have to adapt to English football, but he has shown unbelievable consistency in his games, delivering goals and assists. He has an end product and is full of pace and bravery.
“We think he can offer something different for us, particularly in the one-on-one duels and in behind the defensive line.”
Meanwhile, Norwich have released defender Sean Raggett.
The centre-back spent last season on loan at League One club Portsmouth.
