Cambridge United have signed striker Paul Mullin on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old made a positive impact after arriving on loan from Tranmere Rovers in January - scoring twice in six appearances for the U's before the season was cancelled.

Mullin, who has also played for Swindon Town and Morecambe, has agreed a one-year contract at Cambridge and becomes their first signing of the summer.

“I enjoyed my time on loan at the club last season, and now I have an extended period to make more memories with Cambridge United," he said.

“One of the key reasons I felt that I wanted to come back to sign for the club has been Mark (Bonner, head coach). His man management skills are excellent and how he has been able to pull the group together to push for one goal, I want to help to make that successful."

Head coach Mark Bonner added: "In Paul Mullin we have gained a player who has a good instinct in front of goal and impressed us all in his loan spell because of his work ethic and attitude. His infectious enthusiasm is a quality we are looking for to help us drives standards and create an energetic team."

The U's also have also signed midfielder Paul Digby on a one-year deal following his exit from Stevenage.

Meanwhile, young Norwich City goalkeeper Archie Mair has joined National League newcomers King's Lynn Town on a season-long loan.
