Peterborough and Luton are among the top 10 local authorities with the highest rates of Covid-19.

The figures, for the seven days to July 13, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government's testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

  • ITV News Anglia's Rob Setchell spoke to Cllr Wayne Fitzgerald, Peterborough City Council's Deputy Leader, about the area's increased rate

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 population.

Peterborough is ranked 8th on the list - the infection rate there has increased from 21.4 to 29.3 in the seven days to July 13. The council has opened a new testing facility at the Gladstone Park community centre to make it easier for people to get checked.
