When Mandi Hales and Elliot Cole from Northamptonshire found themselves with some extra time during lockdown, they decided they wanted to do their bit to improve public mental health.

The result was Worries to Wheelies - a scheme that lends bicycles for free to those who need them, no matter what circumstances they're in.

"People are in lockdown and it's kind of been forced upon us", Elliot told ITV Anglia.

"That's fine for people who have families and gardens around them, but you've got a lot of people who don't have that luxury, they live in apartment blocks or they're not in a position to go out and buy a bike."

Mandi is an events manager and Elliot is a stunt driver. The couple, from Thrapston near Kettering, found themselves with less work during lockdown. They began collecting unwanted cycles, making them roadworthy and lending them out free of charge.

Offers to provide bikes have come from all over the country, including from several police forces.

Mandi and Elliot stress that although the project was born in lockdown, they plan to keep it running indefinitely.
