Nine organisations in the East to get nearly £3m from the Arts Council
Nine arts organisations in the East and South East of England will receive a £2.9 million investment from The Arts Council. The short-term emergency fund was specifically designed to help those organisations that need help to stay afloat until the end of September because of the impact of coronavirus restrictions.
Money will go to
Firstsite in Essex (£250,000)
Arts Marketing Association in Cambridge (£46,784)
Britten Sinfonia in Cambridge (£60,000)
Luton Cultural Services Trust - Wardown House in Luton (£51,471)
Milton Keynes Arts Centre in Milton Keynes (£45,860)
Museum of East Anglian Life in Suffolk (£88,950)
New International Encounter in Cambridge (£28,081)
Wavendon Allmusic Plan Ltd that runs the Stables in Milton Keynes (£297,090)
The awards are part of the Arts Council’s overall £160 million Emergency Response Package, launched in March, using lottery and government money.
Hedley Swain, Area Director for the South East Arts Council England said: “Our priority has always been to support as many individuals and organisations as we can through this difficult time – something we have only been able to do thanks to National Lottery players and DCMS.
“But we know that we are all still facing huge challenges. We’ll use our remaining available funds, alongside those announced by government, to support our sector in the coming months.”
Sir Nicholas added: “Our National Portfolio Organisations play a crucial role in providing opportunities for people across England to enjoy culture, and this funding will ensure that they are able to continue their work through the summer."
