Popstar Leona Lewis has recorded a special cover of Robbie Williams' hit song 'Angels' as a tribute to NHS workers.

The video features a series of striking images of staff at Ipswich Hospital over the course of the coronavirus pandemic.

The photos were taken by NHS worker Colin Gray who captured the images of his colleagues on the hospital's Lavenham Ward.

The collection, called 'The Eyes Behind the Masks', shows the stress and strain staff have had to go through to look after patients during the pandemic.

Former X Factor winner Leona recorded the rendition to honour the NHS ahead of its 72nd birthday on Sunday.

All proceeds from the song will go to the NHS.

Speaking to ITV's 'This Morning', she said: “I grew up listening to this song and I’ve always wanted to do it, so I thought this would be an amazing way to get the message across.

“I wanted to record a tribute because I’ve been seeing all the amazing work that the healthcare workers are doing and just seeing how much they’ve been there for us. I have friends that are nurses and family that are key workers and seeing all of their work and their dedication and how much they are putting on the line for us, really just moved me to perform a cover version of this song.”
