Odeon has announced its cinemas in Norwich and Milton Keynes will be among the first to re-open on July 4.

The cinema chain says it will initially re-open 10 cinemas, including Norwich Riverside and Milton Keynes Stadium, before re-opening a further 88 by mid-July.

There will be new health and safety measures in place to combat the possible spread of coronavirus, including guaranteed unoccupied seats between customers.

However, families and social bubble groups will still be allowed to sit together.

Pick and mix won't be available for the time being, but guests will be able to chose from a collection of pre-packaged drinks and snacks.

There will only be limited seats on sale for each show and start times will be staggered to reduce queuing.

Tickets for shows in Norwich and Milton Keynes go on sale from June 25.

“We are excited to confirm that from 4 July, our UK cinemas will begin reopening. We’ve carefully planned every step of our guest journey and put safety measures in place that will enable our highly trained colleagues to provide a controlled and safer cinema experience for all our guests," Odeon Managing Director Carol Welch said.

"New measures include social distancing in our auditoriums and foyers, additional cleaning regimes, and a request to book tickets online prior to arrival. We would like to thank our colleagues and guests for their patience during this period, and we can’t wait to welcome guests back to big screen entertainment and a safer cinema experience.”
