A further 10 hospital patients have died with Covid-19 in the Anglia region

The NHS has reported that 10 more patients have died with coronavirus in hospitals in the Anglia region.

The number of new Covid-19 cases being confirmed by a positive test is also rising again in the East of England and is at the highest level for a fortnight. It comes as the government announces the latest stage of the lifting of lockdown measures.

The total death toll in the Anglia region since the start of the coronavirus outbreak has now reached 5,717 after weekly figures released by the Office of National Statistics and the Care Quality Commission included a further 34 deaths in care homes and the community.

Although the NHS reported on Monday that no patients had died in the Anglia region, once the delayed weekend figures had been processed, it was found some patients had passed away.
