Broadcasting legend Sir David Attenborough steps in to help Whipsnade and London Zoo

The naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough is stepping in to front an appeal to save Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire.

Sir David's appeal aims to raise £12 million to help Whipsnade and its sister site in London.

During the pandemic zoos were forced to close for 12 weeks, and while they are now open again they've warned of the dangers of not being able to raise enough money to keep going.

There are 18,000 animals with monthly food bills of £43,500 across both sites.
