Paul Hart has returned to Luton Town as a coach to help the Hatters' in their bid to secure Championship survival.

The 67-year-old was Nathan Jones' assistant during his first spell in charge of the club, but left when Jones got the Stoke City job.

However, with Jones now back at Kenilworth Road, Hart has re-joined the Hatters' coaching team and will be first team coach for the final nine games of the campaign.

Luton re-start their season against Preston North End at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

The Hatters were second from bottom of the Championship and six points adrift of safety when the season was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Paul has worked with me for a long time now and it’s important for me that in this short-term period here, we have people you can trust and who know how you work, as well as people who the group respect," Jones said.

“I didn’t want to make too many changes to the personnel or staff. It’s not the time to do that at the minute, but bringing in Paul, who works closely and gets on very well with myself and Mick (Harford), with the three of us supplemented well by Forbesy (Adrian Forbes), adds that little bit more experience.

“I thought it was important to bring in another person who knows the division, who knows how we work and can get around the group, because we’ve got nine really important games coming up.”
