Restoration work to begin on Suffolk's historic Shotley Pier
Work will begin on Suffolk's historic Shotley Pier, months after it was due to start.
The pier was built in 1894, but has since fallen into disrepair.
The 600ft Pier at Shotley Gate was built by the Marquis of Bristol as a landing stage for a ferry between the village of Shotley to Harwich and Felixstowe.
A community fundraising appeal was launched three years ago to save and restore the Victorian landmark to its former glory.
It was bought by the Shotley Heritage Charitable Community Benefit Society in 2018 and people were given the chance to buy their own chunk of the structure as well as having a say in how its run.
