Covid deaths continue to rise in Northamptonshire as toll in Anglia region is up by 17

The NHS has announced that 17 more patients have died with coronavirus in the Anglia region with eight of them in Northamptonshire alone.

There have been recent warnings from health officials in the county for the public to maintain strict social distancing and to abide by lockdown restriction because the infection rate there had not been declining as quickly as in neighbouring areas.

The NHS announced on Wednesday that Northampton General Hospital has seen a further six patients dying with Covid-19 taking the total there to 277.

Kettering General had two more deaths bringing the total for the hospital to 209.

In the past seven days 32 patients have died in Northamptonshire compared to 18 the previous week.
