Whipsnade Zoo and Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire reopened on Monday.

They've put social distancing guidance in place and made it essential to pre-book a visit to prevent too many visiting at once.

Whipsnade is the largest zoo in the UK and has now limited visitor numbers to 3,000 per day, split into morning and afternoon slots.

People queued two metres apart to gain entry to the 600-acre site as it reopened on Monday.

Bosses say their measures were a success and they are confident that it means guests can safely enjoy the zoo.

Dine-in cafes in the parks will be closed but takeaway food can be purchased using contactless cards.

Hand sanitiser and handwashing facilities are in place around the zoo and benches and tables will be cleaned regularly.

Animal talks have been suspended to avoid crowds gathering and walkthrough exhibits remain closed.

Sonia Freeman, head of reserves at Woburn said it was great to see people back in the zoo.
