Search on for driver who crashed car into Clacton building and then fled the scene

Police are searching for a driver who crashed a sports car into a building in Clacton and then fled the scene.

The silver car smashed into the building at the junction of Rosemary Road and Rosemary Crescent on Sunday evening.

The crash caused serious damage to corner of the building, while the car's bonnet was also smashed from the impact.

Police and other emergency services were called to the scene, but by the time they got there, the driver had disappeared.

PC Nathan Bright from the Stanway Roads Policing Unit tweeted from the scene after the crash and said the road would be closed until the building is deemed to be safe.

Officers are still looking for the missing motorist.
