Radio shake up means the end of more well known stations across the east

A number of radio stations across the east will be replaced by a new name later this year.

The stations which are being renamed ‘Greatest Hits Radio’ include

  • The Beach (Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft)

  • Dream 100 (Tendring)

  • KLFM (Kings Lynn)

  • North Norfolk Radio (North Norfolk)

  • Radio Norwich (Norwich)

  • Rutland Radio (Rutland)

The stations were taken over last year by the media giant Bauer, which also owns Kiss and Absolute Radio.

The company is rebranding 49 stations across the country in a move which was widely expected following the decision by Global to rebrand stations like Radio Broadland and Hereward Radio to Heart.

As well as changing the name a number of local presenters will be replaced by regional and national programmes. Across the country it's expected that more than 100 presenters could lose their jobs.

The changes will be made in September and Bauer says consultations with staff have started today.
