NHS reports 18 more coronavirus deaths in hospitals in the Anglia region

A total of 3,506 patients have died in hospitals in the Anglia region with Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

NHS England announced a further 18 deaths in the region on Tuesday following 11 deaths announced on Monday and 35 on Sunday.

In the past seven days, 203 patients have died. An average of 26 patients a day have been dying in region in the past ten days compared to 37 during the previous ten days.

The Official of National Statistics has also released new figures which reveal that the death toll in all settings in the Anglia region, including care homes and the community, has reached more than 5,000.

A further three patients died at Northampton General Hospital on Saturday taking the total number of deaths since 226.

Bedford Hospital saw an additional three patients dying with coronavirus between 19th and 22nd May.

The North West Anglia NHS Trust, which runs Peterborough City and Hinchinbrooke hospitals in Huntingdon, reported a further five patients dying on 24th and 25th May taking the total for the Trust to 196.
