A further 11 hospital patients have died with coronavirus in the Anglia region

The NHS has announced 11 more deaths of hospital patients with Covid-19 in the Anglia region.

It is the lowest daily figure since the 22nd March but the total may have been affected by technical problems with reporting.

The total number of patients dying with the disease in the Anglia region since the start of the pandemic in hospitals in the area is 3,488.

The NHS figures do not include those who pass away in care homes or in the community. That information is available at a local level only on a weekly basis.

When the data released by the Office of National Statistics last Tuesday is included, the regional death toll rises to nearly 4,900.

NHS England said: "The Covid Patient Notification System did not operate between 0455 and 1500 on Sunday 24 May due to connectivity issues experienced by an external supplier.

"The number of deaths reported today by NHS England and NHS Improvement may therefore reflect this situation."
