Swords seized from teenagers attempting to board a train
Police in Luton have seized swords and knives from teenagers at Luton Rail station.
In a separate incident the town's community policing team stopped two men in a car who were also found in possession of knives.
In April Bedfordshire Police seized eight firearms off the streets as well as a significant amount of drugs, knives and criminal cash.
PC Thomas Phelan, from the Luton community policing team, said:
Last Monday police were called at around 2.30pm to Luton's train station, following a report of suspicious behaviour by four teenage boys.
They were attempting to get on a train to Bedford and, when stopped and searched, one 15-year-old was found to be in possession of a knife, and another 15-year-old had two Samurai-style swords.
Both teenagers were arrested and bailed with conditions until June.
And more weapons were seized when police stopped a car last Saturday afternoon in Dallow Road, Luton.
During a search of the car two lock knives and CS spray were found. Two men in their 30s from the town were arrested on suspicion of possession of bladed articles and a section 5 firearm.
One of the men was also arrested for driving without licence or insurance, while the other man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs. They have been released under investigation pending further police enquiries.
