A further 107 people die of coronavirus in the Anglia region

A further 107 patients with coronavirus have died in hospitals in the Anglia region according to figures released by NHS England on Friday taking the total to 2,183.

It is the sharpest rise in the number of people dying in the region since figures were released on Friday 17th April when there were 104 deaths.

The figures released every day by NHS England do not include people dying in care homes, in hospices or in the community.

A further 28 deaths were recorded at the West Hertfordshire Trust, which includes Watford General Hospital, though most are spread over preceding weeks.

Braintree Community Hospital recorded three deaths - its first fatalities.

Across the country a further 587 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 17,373.

NHS England said the patients were aged between 40 and 102 years old and 34 of them had no known underlying health condition.
