Three charged after discovery of cannabis worth up to £2m in Peterborough

Three men have been charged following the discovery of more than 2,500 cannabis plants - with a street value of up to £2m - in Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire Police were patrolling the Welland area of the town when they found a vehicle with its window partly wound down and a wallet on full display inside.

The officers wanted to alert the owner - but when they knocked on the door of the house it was parked outside on Hallaton Road, their focus quickly changed.

Police spotted signs of cannabis cultivation and went on to find two bedrooms had been converted to house plants. Further investigation led to the discovery of a total of 2,777 plants as well as the equipment needed to grow them.
