The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust have confirmed one of their members of staff has died after testing positive for COVID-19.

Barry England was Leading Operations Manager at the ambulance trust and had worked for the service for 33 years.

He was admitted to hospital last Sunday and died on Thursday. The Trust said that Mr England was a hugely valued friend and colleague.

A statement issued on behalf of his family said that their hearts were broken at the sudden loss, and that Barry was extremely proud to have worked for the ambulance service for more than three decades.

They thanked all the NHS staff who cared for Barry in hospital and the support they received from his former colleagues.
