How ITV News Anglia is safely covering your local news during the coronavirus outbreak

Providing reliable and accurate local news coverage during the coronavirus outbreak is crucial but ITV News Anglia is keeping to strict social distancing guidelines.

Public service broadcasters like ITV and the BBC are designated key workers and are allowed to continue covering the news.

Here's how we are doing that job safely at ITV News Anglia

The way we're all going about our daily lives has changed almost beyond recognition in the past few months.

The stringent measures imposed by the government have meant, for many, more isolation and fewer connections with the outside world.

Thousands of people have been told to stay at home for three months, and the rest of us have been told to drastically cut back on our social interactions, even with friends and family.

Just as we all adapt to the massive changes in our lives and our workplaces - we here at ITV News Anglia have had to adapt too.

All staff working for ITV News have been designated key workers by the government.

That means we are allowed to leave our homes, and work in the studio or on location to bring you trustworthy and reliable reports from across the East of England.

Our programmes have changed to reduce the number of social interactions we have.

There are fewer people in our Norwich newsroom - and we're all staying at least two metres apart.

Our reporters and camera operators are working from home when they can but still striving to bring you the news that matters where we can safely do so.

Covering the news might mean you see us out in the community sometimes but we have strict social distancing procedures in place to ensure our staff and our contributors are safe.

So while we’re sometimes out when you might not expect us to be we're doing all we can to reduce the time we're mixing with other people by using video conferencing and recording interviews remotely.

In these turbulent times, bringing you up-to-date local news that you can trust, has never been more important.

And it's a duty we take very seriously. We're here to keep you informed about this fast-developing story, bringing you the latest facts and information.
