99-year-old Bedfordshire veteran raises over £4m for the NHS
A World War II veteran from Bedfordshire has raised more than four million pounds for the NHS.
Tom Moore, from Marston Moretaine, is attempting to walk 100 lengths of his garden before his 100th birthday at the end of April.
He originally aimed to raise £1,000 when he first appeared on ITV News Anglia last week, but after his sponsored walk received wider media coverage, the money kept rolling in.
By mid-morning on Tuesday the total had passed the £1m mark and by the afternoon it had doubled to more than £2m. By Wednesday, it had gone past £4m.
Watch him talking about his efforts on ITV's Good Morning Britain:
Tom, who uses a walker, has been attempting 10 lengths of his garden per day. Because of the coronavirus outbreak, he has to self-isolate. Tom's determined to help in the fight against COVID-19 despite being confined.
He spoke to reporter Rebecca Haworth last week, before he hit the £4m mark:
All of the money raised will go towards NHS Charities Together, which is a collective organisation representing, supporting and championing the work of the NHS' official charities.
