Ex-MEP for the East of England in hospital with Covid-19
Richard Howitt, a Labour MEP for the East of England for 22 years, is being treated in Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for coronavirus.
Mr Howitt posted a picture of himself on Twitter wearing a medical facemask saying: "I'm sorry I'll be out of action for a while but hope to bounce back before too long."
Richard Howitt was first elected a Member of the European Parliament for South Essex in 1994 before the giant East of England constituency was created in 1999.
He stepped down after the referendum to leave the European Union in 2016.
