First coronavirus death at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge

Addenbrooke's Hospital have confirmed that a patient has died after testing positive for Covid-19.

In a statement, they said that a patient in their 90s with underlying health issues passed away on 21st March although the information has only just been released by the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

There have been 121 cases of coronavirus in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough up until 9am on Sunday 29 March.

Roland Sinker, Chief Executive of Cambridge University Hospital NHS Trust, said: “We can confirm that sadly, a patient in their 90s with underlying health conditions has passed away at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. They had tested positive for COVID-19.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time."
