Cambridge United’s new Head Coach Mark Bonner says he is immensely proud to have been given the opportunity to steer the club forward.
Bonner, who at 34 is one of the youngest managers in the EFL, spent the last six weeks in interim charge after United parted company with Colin Calderwood in January.
Now he hopes the remaining games of the current SkyBet EFL League Two campaign will help him plan for next season.
He was a Cambridge fan as a young boy having first watched the team as a 7 year old.
He says the fact he hasn’t had a professional playing career hasn’t been a hindrance to his coaching and isn’t daunted by the responsibility.
Bonner steered United to four straight wins when put in interim charge, a run which helped him to be nominated for the EFL's League Two Manager of the Month for February.
Cambridge are now searching for a new assistant coach to work with Bonner
