Two arrested for terror offences over attack on prison officer at HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire

Two men have been detained after a prison officer was stabbed in the head, face and chest at a maximum security jail in Cambridgeshire.

The incident happened at HMP Whitemoor, near March, on 9 January; the attackers were wearing fake suicide belts and used improvised bladed weapons.

On Monday, 2 March, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that two men, aged 24 and 26, have been arrested in connection with the attack.

They've been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and preparation of a terrorist act.

The men are being held in police custody in London.

As well as the officer who was stabbed, four other prison officers were injured as they stepped in to help during the attack.
