RSPCA move horses in Wellingborough amid welfare concerns
A major rescue operation has been underway in Wellingborough to save around 30 horses abandoned in the flood waters around the town.
No one is sure who owns the horses. Three have already died.
Dozens of people were involved in the operation to move them to a pen to be checked by vets.
Concerns were raised by local people who say they have been doing their best to care for the horses.
They believe the RSPCA should have acted sooner but the charity says it acted as quickly as it could once the scale of the suffering became apparent.
Some of the horses will go to a rescue charity in Scotland. Those in a worse condition will be cared for closer to home.
