Three arrested in connection with major fire in Ipswich

Three people have been arrested in connection with a suspected arson at the former Tolly Cobbold brewery site on Ipswich's waterfront.

Police and firefighters were called to the site at Cliff Quay at around 4.35pm on Sunday, February 23.

Surrounding roads were closed as crews tackled the blaze.

A 29-year-old man was arrested later in that evening on suspicion of arson.

On Monday, a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson and a 44-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All three were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where they remain.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious activity at the time of the fire is urged to contact Suffolk police and quote crime reference 37/11543/20.
